Curt and Cathy Bradner Will be Returning to the US July 24th to Share News of Their Relief Efforts
July 2, 2008 – Eugene, OR couple, Curt and Cathy Bradner, will be making their first visit home since Cyclone Nargis struck Myanmar devastating the Ayarwaddy Delta and leaving hundreds of thousands without the basic necessities of life – food, clothing, shelter and most important – water.
Curt and Cathy Bradner were some of the first international aid workers to be allowed into Myanmar after the cyclone struck due to their long standing safe water intervention program in Myanmar and their unique business visas acquired earlier in the year.
Since their arrival in Myanmar on May 9th they have delivered thousands of ceramic water filters to people in the Ayarwaddy Delta and recently began a large scale up of their response adding sanitation and hygiene elements to their already successful water and education program (The new program is termed WASHED). They have brought in medicines for other organizations, organized comprehensive aid shipments into the delta region and helped to form the Myanmar Grassroots Association – a group of local Myanmar NGOs, business men, monks and others who are striving to turn this disaster into an opportunity to improve the lives of the Myanmar people through strategic rebuilding and widespread public health interventions like Thirst-Aid’s WASHED program.
The Bradners will be in the US July 24th – August 20th . For an opportunity to speak directly with Curt and Cathy Bradner about their experiences, their programs and the amazing group of Myanmar nationals who are working hard to save the day please contact Bree Ervin, Thirst-Aid Communications Director at 541-517-5141 or thirstaid2@gmail.com to arrange an interview.
